Business views
Business Views are predefined USU Service Management desktops designed to contain an ideal set of InfoObjects for working with certain business functionality.
Business module - Business views - Perspectives
USU Service Management business functionality is divided into modules catering to individual areas of business such as service desk and ticketing, asset management, requesting and procurement etc. Each of these modules is represented by one or more business views.
Individual business views belonging to one business module can approach the module's functionality from a different angle. For instance, the area of ticketing is approached differently by the service desk, 1st level support, 2nd level support, etc.
Business views belonging to one business module can also cover different parts of the module's functionality. For instance, requesting and procurement may be covered by separate business views for each of the business functions.
Up to 3 perspectives may be available for a business view. Individual perspectives access the business view functionality in different ways. The 'Start Page' perspective offers quick access to your favorite functionality via customizable smart tiles. The 'Work Page' perspective offers full scope of the business view functionality. The 'Dashboard Page' perspective is geared mainly at data overview. Work Page and Dashboard Page perspectives contain customizable sets of InfoObjects.
Business view selection
At any given point of time, only one business view is selected. Business view selection is done in the 'Business Views' expandable area of the 'Profile/Settings' toolbar control. (See item 4 in the User interface screenshot.)
Click in the Profile/Settings area in the toolbar.
The control expands.
Click in the Business View item of the control.
A list of available business views expands.
Click one of the business views in the list.
One of the perspectives belonging to the selected business view opens:
The perspective active at the moment of business view selection gets opened for the newly selected business view. For example, if 'Incident Manager' Dashboard Page is active when you switch to the 'Problem Support' business view, 'Problem Support' Dashboard Page gets opened.
If the perspective active at the moment of business view selection is not defined for the newly selected business view, the 'Work Page' perspective gets opened. For example, if 'Planning/Calculation Manager' Dashboard Page is active when you switch to the 'SRM catalogue management' business view, 'SRM catalogue management' Work Page gets opened.
Catalogs and Editors opened in the Workspace InfoObject remain opened after the business view switch.
Business view customization
Predefined standard business views can be customized at two levels:
End users can change the content of business view perspectives:
Start Page - add, delete and rearrange Smart Tiles, create additional subpages
Work Page, Dashboard Page - add, delete and rearrange InfoObjects
Note that end user InfoObject changes can be disabled for each individual business view by the administrator.
USU Service Management administrators can perform full business view customization and administration, including view creation.
